Nissan Sentra

The Sentra is back for 2019, and it has a couple of fuel-efficient engines for you to choose from. The 1.8-liter inline which comes standard in most trims and the 1.6-liter inline which is available at higher trim levels. Each vehicle also comes equipped with different features that are sure to enhance your driving experience and give you the type of ride you are looking for. So let's take a look at these two engine models to see which one is right for you.

1.8-Liter Inline
The 1.8-liter inline engine is the engine associated with the S, SV, SR and SL trims. This engine is a 4-cylinder and is mated to an advanced Xtronic transmission with sub-planetary gear and offers either a 6-speed manual or CVT automatic transmissions. The engine with the 6-speed manual transmission combines 130 horsepower with 128 lb-ft of torque, while the CVT automatic transmission provided 124 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque. No matter what engine you choose you are certainly in for a fuel-efficient ride as the 6-speed manual transmission has a fuel economy of 27 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway, while the CVT automatic transmission lands at 29 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway.

1.6-Liter Inline
The 1.6-liter inline is the engine associated with the higher trim levels like the SR Turbo and the Nismo. This engine also gives you the option of either the CVT automatic or 6-speed manual transmission and gives drivers a little extra power with its 188 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. Fuel Economy is also decent as the SR has a fuel economy of 27 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway no matter the transmission, while the Nismo sits a 25 mpg in the city and 31mpg on the highway on manual transmission while the automatic gives you 25mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway respectively.

What Else Can You Tell Me?
Each vehicle comes with different options. Except for the Nismo, all 2019 Sentra's with automatic transmission also comes with Automatic Emergency Braking, all trims come with the option of adaptive cruise control and all the base S is the Sentra's Active Understeer Control which applies brake force to the inside of the wheel during cornering allowing drivers to take corners aggressively. No matter what trim you choose, you are certainly in for a smooth ride as the car is quiet and it's easy to average over 35 Mpg. The power is enough for either city or highway driving, but for those who want a little extra, we recommend the 1.6-liter engine with the 188 horsepower as it is undoubtedly quick and fun to drive.
