Kid-Friendly Games to Play on a Holiday Road Trip
Â
A holiday road trip with your family can be exhausting and taxing, especially when your children become restless. Entertaining your children is the perfect way of preventing so many meltdowns and panic attacks throughout the day. We're not talking about putting a screen in front of them. We're talking about road trip games that you played as a kid in the car and also a couple of new ones that are fun. Consider these games to play with your children on your next road trip.
I-Spy
I-Spy is a classic road trip game that requires no costs required on your part, and can hold your children's attention for a huge chunk of time. Just make sure the driver isn't playing along.
Road Trip Bingo
This one's been around forever, and still is a good one. Road trip Bingo is basically combining a scavenger hunt with a bingo board. Click on the link for free bingo printable boards. All you have to come up with is a lump sum of pennies to help cover their board.Â
Tic Tac Toe
Everyone knows how to play this game. All your kids need is a pad of paper and a few crayons. Once they're done playing, they can turn to coloring next.
20 Questions
20 Questions doesn't require you spending any money. Plus, it's fun too! One person will come up with a person, place or thing, while the guessers have 20 questions that they can ask to get closer to the answer. Hopefully, before your 20 questions is up will you have found out the winning answer.
License Plate Game
You probably played this game with your siblings when you were kids. Tracking down the most states makes you the winner. If your kids are lucky, they'll come across some Canadian provinces that could be worth more.
Would You Rather/You Gotta Be Kidding
Another game that's hilarious and will get things interesting in a hurry is called, Would You Rather/You Gotta Be Kidding. Passengers are asked two outrageous questions of what they would rather do. You have to pick which you would choose, explain your answer and then guess what your opponent thinks you would do. Every time you guess correctly, your pawn moves one space forward, until someone reaches the finish line.   Â
Car Trip Scavenger Hunt
Make a set of cards ahead of time on certain items for your kids to track down on your adventure. Or you could buy the car trip scavenger hunt version instead. It's as simple as having to hunt down a red car or finding a particular letter on a license plate.Â

These are a number of old games and a few new ones that can make a holiday road trip a better experience. You might not have to hear the words, "are we there yet?" nearly as often. What other games do your children enjoy playing on a long car ride?
