Nissan Altima

The 2019 Nissan Altima is truly a testament to Nissan engineering. Not only is this sedan incredibly stylish, but for the 2019 model year, Nissan has added many powerful options that will make this sedan the best sedan on the market. Some of the newer features you'll find are powertrain options. There is a brand new Variable Compression Turbo engine, the first production of its kind in the world, along with all-wheel drive being offered for the Altima for the first time. Along with those two options there is a brand new standard engine! Nissan is continuing to step up its game, and we couldn't be more excited for this sedan to make its way to dealerships in Fall 2018! Continue reading down below for more information on these powertrain options and what they mean for the 2019 Altima.

Can you tell me more about the Altima with all-wheel drive?

For the first time ever, Intelligent All-Wheel Drive is going to be offered with the Nissan Altima. None of the other best-selling midsize sedans offer this feature, which further helps the Altima stand out from a crowded segment. This is also a factor as to why many people moved from sedans to SUVs, and in order to stop that switching, Nissan has brought all-wheel drive to the sedan. You can get the AWD system with every trim level that works with the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. This system automatically redistributes torque to all of the wheels depending on driving and road conditions. This system will give you the added confidence you've been looking for with your midsize sedan.

What is the world's first production-ready engine that comes with the Altima?

This engine is a variable compression turbo inline 4-cylinder. To give a further idea of the kind of performance that can be expected, this 4-cylinder engine has the performance of a V6 engine but the fuel economy of a 4-cylinder. The new technology that makes this engine so special transform the engine to allow for more dynamic driving and a more efficient performance. That technology is the VC-Turbo. This technology has been in the works for around twenty years, and allows for the compression ratio to seamlessly change between 8:1 to 14:1. The higher compression ratio is great for efficiency, and the lower compression ratio is perfect for torque and power. If you're at all worried about fuel economy, then let those worries abate as this engine is expected to have a double-digit percentage increase when it comes to highway mpg with FWD.

What is the new standard engine?

There is a brand new engine that comes standard with the 2019 Altima. This engine is a 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder that creates 180 pound-feet of torque and 188 horsepower. This engine improves noise, harshness, and vibration. Also changed is the fuel economy that is further enhanced, and the benefit of cleaner emissions. The key parts of the engine that have been changed include variable tumble control valve, thermal-insulated resin intake port, variable displacement oil pump, Direct Injection Gasoline system, and cooled external EGR. The combination of the new elements has created an engine with high output and low fuel consumption, along with front-end styling flexibility and improved NVH. Paired with this new standard engine is an Xtronic transmission.

We couldn't be more excited for the 2019 Nissan Altima to come to dealerships in Fall 2018. However, until then, we invite you to check out our 2018 Nissan Altima inventory! No matter what, the Altima will always be a hit.
