2022 Nissan Altima at Reedman-Toll Nissan of Drexel Hill

With the Nissan Altima, you get a family-friendly sedan with a robust design and engineering that ranks among the best in the class. Even though the Altima has been around for a while, it's never been short on innovation, as in 2022, you get two fantastic engine options, including a turbocharged engine or a VC-Turbo, both of which provide you with high horsepower and torque. Inside the cabin, the Altima has a distinctive design, as the front seats provide you with an excellent sense of comfort, and there are numerous driver's safety aids thanks to the ProPilot assist. Want to know more about what the Altima offers? Then check out our review below!

The Science Behind a World First

While other engines must deal with a fixed compression ratio, the VC-Turbo constantly adapts. It raises or lowers its pistons' reach seamlessly, variably, and continuously, to provide an ideal balance of power and efficiency for every driving situation.

Xtronic CVT

Altima's Xtronic CVT® (Continuously Variable Transmission) features wide gear ratio coverage for a more efficient drive. Want thrills instead? Dynamic step shifting simulates traditional gear changes for that familiar sense of exhilaration. Efficiency and excitement on demand.

Generous Trunk Space

Altima features spacious trunk space, which gives you up to 15.4 cu ft of cargo room. Fold the rear seats down, and you'll have a massive 42.9 cu ft of cargo space. Luggage for that road-trip weekend, supply runs for your next big party, or that side table you've been eyeing, it's all possible.

Rear Door Alert

Keep forgetting things on your back seat? The innovative Rear Door Alert system gives you a visual and audible alert that can remind you to check your rear seats before leaving your Altima.

Intelligent Forward Collision Warning

Altima is on the lookout when you can't see what's going on ahead. It monitors your speed and distance, and when it detects sudden deceleration ahead of you, it gives you the warning to slow down.

Intelligent Lane Intervention

Altima helps keep you in your lane. When lane markings are clear,  available Intelligent Lane Intervention can detect if you're straying out of your lane and can tap the brakes to help gently guide you back.

Apple CarPlay Integration

People to see? Places to be? Just ask Siri®. Equipped with Siri® voice control, Apple CarPlay® brings your contacts, favorite messaging apps, Apple Music® playlists, Apple Maps, and more onboard to your Altima. Simply plug in your compatible iPhone® and go.

Active Noise Cancellation

Available on the SR VC-Turbo trim, Active Noise Cancellation monitors input from the engine and the cabin and creates a noise-cancelling signal delivered through Altima's speakers, for a refined, quiet ride.

What powers the Nissan Altima?

There are a couple of engine options available for the Nissan Altima, and both of them deliver an astonishing amount of horsepower and torque. The standard option is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that pumps out a solid 188 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque and pairs with a continuously variable automatic transmission. Power is sent to the front wheels, though an all-wheel-drive system is available for the SV, SR, and SL. For an even more powerful performance, the Altima offers you a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that pumps out 236 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque or 248 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque on 93 octane gas. This engine is available for the SR trim and comes exclusively with front-wheel-drive.

What are a few of the Altima's features?

With five trim levels that are filled to the brim with features, the Nissan Altima is one of the most well-rounded sedans on the market. The base trim level is the S which comes with 16-inch steel wheels, a remote engine start, keyless entry, push-button ignition, cloth seats, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and a six-speaker audio system. Several features are available for the Driver Assist package, which has an eight-way adjustable driver's seat. The SV builds on this with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, intelligent ride control, intelligent trace control, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An optional premium package for the SV adds heated mirrors, a power sunroof, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. For more sporty features, the SR trim comes with 19-inch wheels, a sport suspension, and transmission paddle shifters. Next is the SL, which adds more advanced features such as foglights, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather seats, NissanConnect connected services, and a traffic sign recognition system. Last but not least is the Platinum trim which rounds things out nicely with driver's seat memory settings, auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal garage door opener, and a 360-degree camera system.

Is the Altima a safe vehicle?

You bet it is! Every trim level comes stacked with premium safety features that will keep you and your family safe as you hit the open road. On the base S trim, you get a forward collision warning that will alert you to a possible frontal collision and can even apply the brakes if you fail to do so. Another unique safety system is the lane departure warning system which will let you know when your Altima starts to drift outside its lane. There is also a driver attention warning system that will send you a warning if it senses you are becoming fatigued. Other safety features include a backup camera, rear parking sensors, and a blind-spot monitor with a rear-cross traffic alert.
